Boss Money: Nat Taumberger, In Hand

I recently had the absolute pleasure of a energy facial from Nat Taumberger at In Hand. It was like nothing else I’ve experienced before. Nat is a Holistic Practitioner who combines facial treatments with energy healing techniques to take her clients on a journey of deep relaxation, grounding, growth and transformation. Nat has brought together the nurturing essence of massage and the gentle aspects of energy healing to create a unique holistic session for her clients. After furthering her studies in Touch for Health, Applied Kinesiology, Emotional Release Practices and Holistic Empowerment Coaching, she saw a need to develop treatments which incorporate these powerful healing techniques with her soothing and healing touch during facial treatments (A genius idea, in my opinion). Her clients leave feeling grounded, with their energy more balanced and aligned. They may gain a greater understanding of their concerns and the work they need to do to empower themselves. With Nat’s soothing touch and gentle guidance they can start to work towards a more aligned and fulfilling future.

Nat, as you know, I’m a big fan of your practice at In Hand and have become a bit of a regular. How would you explain your business if you met someone at dinner?

I would start by explaining that In Hand offers Energy Balance Facials which encourage balance not only on the outside but on the inside too.
All Energy Balance Facials work on mind, body and spirit. They help shift stagnant energy, emotional blocks such as relationships, financial goals, abundance, anxiety and old belief systems that no longer serve. I work with energy, essential oils and crystals, I tap into the subconscious mind and allow the body to communicate what it is ready and needing to shed in each session.
These treatments are powerful yet gentle ways that we can look at our current life circumstances and work through anything that is holding us back on a subconscious level.

What inspired you start a business?

2020 was the hardest year of my life. I had a relationship end, Covid then struck, I had friendships which broke down, working within the family business became strained and I experienced anxiety which was debilitating. I was broken, in all aspects of my life but I was determined to work through it all. I turned to my holistic team of Kinesiologists, Energy Healers and Therapists.
Through this healing work, I discovered my passion to learn about human behaviour, energy healing and wanting to be a holistic support to people who were going through what I had experienced. Combining my background of Beauty Therapy and my recent Holistic Healing studies, I developed the Energy Balance Facial. A way to nurture someone through touch whilst supporting emotional healing.
I know in this lifetime, this is what I am meant to do. Every twist and turn of my life has brought me to this realisation and without going through what I did, I might be stuck on a path that was not right for me.

Starting a business typically involves a lot of trial, error and learning. What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

You dont need to have all of the answers when you start. I put so much pressure on myself to have my treatments as I want them to be forever, to have the perfect space, to have branding and copy set in stone. I wanted everything to be flawless from day dot. But this does not allow you the space and grace to grow, to learn and develop your skills and business identity. All it does is put added pressure on yourself and can start the emotional torment of not being good enough to be opening up a business.
We as humans change, we grow and learn every day and we are allowed to do so in business as well.

We as humans change, we grow and learn every day and we are allowed to do so in business as well.

What’s the biggest money lesson you’ve learned since starting your business?

I was raised by entrepreneurial Austrian parents who moved to Australia with nothing. I have seen them work hard, save and invest their money successfully (with lots of hard lessons along the way). Having seen how they streamlined costs in their businesses was ingrained in me, so I dont buy many 'nice to have' items. I invest in equipment which will last, I repurpose items and I always look for deals on items I need to purchase. Saving a few dollars here and there can add up, every bit counts.

Sounds like they were very financially savvy role models! So, what would you say has been your biggest win, financially speaking, as a business owner?

I am lucky enough to have a space that I dont have to pay rent for. It has given me the space to grow my business meaningfully, whilst not having financial pressures.

It’s obvious to me that you’re very purpose driven. What kind of legacy do you what to create with your business and why?

The legacy I want to create is to leave people feeling better than before I met them.
Life is tough, it can be really tough. I don’t know how I could have made it through without my support team. I want to be part of people's support team. To help people realise their potential, resolve their destructive patterns and undo belief systems that no longer serve them. We all deserve to live the life we want to live. I want to help people get there.

What does your business empower you to do?

My business empowers me to trust in the universe and to trust in my path, even if it isn't what I thought it would be. I ended up here for a reason and doing this work is one of them. After seeing the outcome of my client sessions I trust more and more in holistic healing and its power. It is a true gift that we are becoming more opened to as a society.

Who's in your 'A Team'?

My A Team is my mentor who is also my Kinesiologist. We formed a friendship and soul connection through my sessions. She has taught me so much, supported me in my journey of self discovery - my guardian angel on this earth. My other go to person is my mum. She is wise, intelligent and supportive. She always has my back and helps guide me honestly, as only a mother can do.

Do you have any advice that would you give to another lady hoping to start her own business?

DO IT! If you have a recurring thought, business idea or a real drive to make something better in the world, walk towards it. This is your intuition guiding you to your life's purpose. Trust the internal niggles, let your passions be your guide. If it feels good, it's right. If it feels bad it's wrong. It really is that simple. Start methodically. Map out your ideas, identify your 'why', write down your core values as a business, your belief systems and your biggest dream for it. This will all be a blueprint for your development and allow you to communicate your business to others with clarity and conviction.

Finally, what are you looking forward to right now?

I'm looking forward to connecting with new clients to help support them on their healing journey. I also love working with like-minded local businesses and forming relationships within my new community which are soul nurturing and inspiring.
